no equation editor, no object type -- Microsoft equation

Hi,

My original document was written with Word XP...now that I have a Mac,
I installed the Office for mac 2004 (student and teacher edition)...I
can't edit all my equations. It says "Word cannot locate the server
application for Equation.3 objects"...or even when I want to try to
insert and equation, there is no options for "microsoft equation" What
should I do?

In the full version of Word 2004, the command "Insert/Object..." gives you a
list of objects to insert one of which is "Microsoft Equation". I presume
the same applies to all versions. Sorry, I don't know what the error message
means!

I did the Easy Install of Office V.X and it didn't install the Equation
Editor. I had to install it by going to an "extras" directory and
installing it.

If it doesn't work, trash the Carbon Registration Database in
~/Library/Preferneces/Microsoft folder.

Hi,

Since you're working with XP users, it might be worthwhile to visit the
MathType web site and download the trial version of MathType. That will
give you some better font compatibility. If you don't need or want the
full version of MathType (Equation Editor is the "light" version) at
least the fonts will stick with you and keep working.
