No file name when using "Save As"

HELP!

When I update an excel file and go to save it with a new name using
"save as", the resulting window has no place for a file name.

Any suggestions?

Which version of XL? Which OS version?

Office 10.5.1, OS 10.3.1

Since Office uses OS X dialogs for saving, this would appear to by a
system problem. Is it happening in all applications, or just XL?

Have you tried repairing permissions (using the Disk Utility in the
Applications/Utilities folder)?

It only happens in XL. I followed your suggestion and ran the Disk
Utility. Didn't solve the problem! Any other thoughts?

With all Office apps closed, try moving or renaming your
~:Library:preferences:Microsoft Folder. Start XL - any difference?
If yes, try adding back items to restore your preferences for other
apps. The problem will likely be with the Excel Settings (10), Excel
Toolbars (10) or one of the Office or Office Component preferences.

If not, I'm not sure what to think...
