No gap jumpstyle for lines using a custom line pattern

I'm using Visio 2003 sp2.

I have several custom line patterns for use on an electrical diagram. I
was originally using the arc jumpstyle which was fine. I have been
asked by my customer to use a gap jump style. However, the gaps do not
apear when using a custom line pattern. It works using any of the
inbuild line patterns.

Any suggestions, I can't avoid having to use a custom lne pattern.

I've made it in another way.
A line was grouped with and on another wider line of
the same color as background, white.
A gap appeared, when two lines crossed.
