No HELP files in any Office 2000 program

Since a clean reinstall the Help section has disappeared
from all Office programs. Trouble message is "Program
Error: MSOHELP.exe has generated errors and will be closed
by Windows." The MSOHELP.EXE file is in my default
install location at D:\MS Office\Office\1033 but I can't
access it. Have tried a lot of things already (Detect and
Repair, Norton WinDoctor, RegClean, etc.). Need some
expert help with my Help.
Maybe relevant? I also have no Help files available in my
Windows 2000 Pro OS. Message there is "hh.exe has
generated errors and will be closed by Windows."
