No information to display in this view

We have been trying to configure a new, single server installation of Project
Server 2003. We are running SQL Server 2000 SP4 for both database and
analysis services, and have upgraded to Project Server 2003 SP2. SharePoint
services appear to be working perfectly. Project Server 2003 is working as
well with the exception of the minor but detrimental failure described below.

The problem is with trying to view a published project in Web Access. While
projects display correctly in the Project Center (they are all listed along
with their durations to the right), selecting one brings you to the View A
Project page and returns "There is no information to display in this view."
-- even though there are tasks, there are resources and there are views from
Project Pro 2003, which is able to connect to the server.

We believe the tasks are not actually being processed by the server as
publishing from Project 2003 results in the following entry in Event Viewer

Component: Views Notification Service
File: C:\Office\devsp\project\pcportal\source\viewsnotify\ViewNotify.cpp
Line: 240
Error Number: 0x800a005b
Description:
Failed to create instance of views

We have been through the range of solutions posed in MS Article 810596 with
no change in luck. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Try to re-run the complus components. As far as I can seen in the event log
that you have posted "View service" is failing to process. Try to install
project in the machine where project server is installed and login to server
as administrator > try to publish the project. If project is published
properly then there is some network issue.

Let me know.

I appreciate the response.

I have tried installing Project 2003 to the computer (also updated to SP2),
and updating the COM+ components with PSComPlus. Neither seemed to work.
Again, the Project shows up in the Project Center but will not expand. The
publishing process resulted in multiple instances of the same error mentioned
previously.

Additionally the following appeared:

Component: Views Notification Service
File: C:\Office\devsp\project\pcportal\source\viewsnotify\ViewNotify.cpp
Line: 72
Error Number: 0x800a005b
Description:
Failed to create instance of views
processing object (PCSViews.ViewsDrop). The service cannot continue to run,
shutting down.

Again, further thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

All,

We are still having this issue where all published projects cannot be viewed
on the web. Many hours have been spent picking at this issue and its getting
increasingly difficult to justify the effort as we need to have something in
place this week. Our only option seems to be using a solution other than
project for our project team.

Considering viewing project files is one of the main uses of project server,
I would expect this to work upon installation - especially considering
everything else was smooth. We have reinstalled from scratch 3 times so far,
so its probably a configuration problem on the server. Does anyone have any
original suggestions on how to fix this?

Please see original posts for KB articles followed so far. Additionally,
installing project on server and publishing from here also did not work.
Should the project services be running as Local Service or Network Service?

Bryan

Repeat of issue:

We cannot view project contents through web (likely because view was not
processed, rather than permission problems). We receive the error that there
is no information to display. When publishing projects we get 2 of the
following errors in the Application Event Log:

Event Type: Warning
Event Source: Microsoft Project Server Tracing Eventlog Provider
Event Category: None
Event ID: 1

Bryan,

Do you have any Project Server Partners in your area? It might be a
good idea to get some professional external help if your problem is
this bad...

I am still trying to solve this myself as we don't have a very large budget.
I was just hoping to hear some novel suggestions to get my brain working
again... Anders and I have 2 good heads that we are putting together, but it
may be something stupid, or it may be something thats just wrong. Since it
works for othere we realize there is something that is just preventing us
from doing this correctly. Any thoughts? We can likely offer RDP/Web access
if it helps.

Did you get an update on this? or manage to resolve the issue? I am
experiencing exactly the same on a similar setup.

Setup:
Server:
Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition SP1
SQL 2000 SP4
Sharepoint 2 SP2
Project Server 2003 SP1

Hi,
This problem occurs after installation of Project ServerSP1.

SP1 is basically used to solve the following issue.
1.Users are not added to the Enterprise Resource Pool when you synchronize
the Enterprise Resource Pool with an Active Directory directory service group.
2.Documents that are linked to tasks in all projects are unexpectedly
deleted after you delete a project from the Project Server database.

Unless you are experiencing and are severely affected by the above mentioned
problems it is recommended not to install SP1.

Another important thing to keep in mind is all the applications including
project professional and web access should be closed before starting the
installation of project server SP1.

Thanks and Regards
