No language tools

I have installed (and re-installed) Office X several times including the
proofing tools from the Value Pack. My problem is that the Language
option (for spelling check) does not appear at all on the tools menu. So
I cannot check spelling in languages other than US English. I checked
my shared Applications folder and all the proofing tools are there. They
just don't work. I have installed all the latest upgrades, with no results.
Any ideas?

Hi Luis,

I would try two things:
First make sure Office is up to date (version 10.1.5)
then if the problem is still there, try moving some preferneces out of
the Microsoft folder in th epreferneces folder of your user account.
That usually fixes it.

Parfait )) Je suis bien content que tu aies pu récupérer l'usage des
outils de correction ) Avec les bugs des premières version d'Office
j'ai eu des soucis similaires et je compred tout à fait la frustration
d'avoir ces outils installés et inutilisables )))

I have a related problem, in that I can access all available
languages, but only "english" appears, not British/Canadian/US/etc. I
cannot add any words to a custom dictionary, either, so I am stuck
with US (which to me is incorrect) spelling. Any fixes for this?

Are the other proofing tools installed ??? That's what you have with
thedefault install. Actually you should make sure that Office is up to
date as well since as I mentioned, early versions of Office X had nasty
bugs in this regard.

Many thanks from me too.

I tossed the Word settings (10) file in the Microsoft folder inside the
preferences folder inside my user folder and that did it.
