Hi all,
I've run across a desk top that has XP Home Edition - and with Access -
which I thought was a contradiction in terms.....but all seems legit in terms
of licensing and so I assume one can buy & install Access individually if one
did not receive it with the Home Edition. ok so far. Access2002
XP2002-Home Edition Service Pack 2.
When attempting to set this machine up with a split access - loading the
Front End programs is fine. But when I right click on the tables and select
the 'Linked Table Manager' (to relink all the Tables listed in this Front End
program) - it then tells me that it (or the wizard ) for the Linked Table
Manager is not installed and asks me if I want to install it: I say
yes....and then during install it prompts me to put in the 'XP Professional
Edition with Front Page disk' - - the owner of the desk top has an XP Pro
Edition (Academic Edition) and an XP Pro Upgrade CD - - have tried them both
and in both cases the message is that it can not find whatever it needs on
the CD.
Have searched around the Microsoft web site but haven't really found
anything that specifically instructs on installing the needed Linked Table
Manager.....
I am not one to try to evade Microsoft's licenses - but from what I see all
seems legit....do I need to tell the owner to upgrade to Pro Edition or am I
missing something else?....Advice Appreciated. NTC
