No longer able to save in 97-2003 word format

I am using Windows XP with 2007 Office Home & Student. Just recently I have
no longer been able to save word documents in the 97-2003 format. "The save
failed due to out of memory or disk space" appears. I have deleted .tmp files
and this has not resolved the issue. The reason I want to save some documents
in the older format is so that others that do not have office 2007 may open
them. Any advice would be much appreciated.

This may sound like an obvious question but...how much free disk space do
you have? Are you trying to save to a special device like a flash drive or
just a regular hard drive?

In the meantime people with older versions of Office can download the free
file converters from Microsoft which would let them open (and save) files in
Word 2007 format.

I have 103 gig of hard drive disk space available. It is to this drive that I
am attempting to save to. I have had no problem in saving in the older format
in the past. This problem has just recently happened. Since creating this
post I have downloaded the 2007 Microsoft Office Add-in: Microsoft Save as
PDF or XPS and am saving in the PDF format for sharing. I would prefer to be
able to continue to save in the 97-2003 format.
