Hello, I have read several posts / threads on related topics but
unfortunately am coming to the conclusion that my copy of Word 2003
SP2 is "possessed" and needs an exorcist.
Until a month or so ago I was able to do Table --> Insert Table, take
the defaults, and freely adjust column widths using mouse either on
ruler or on vertical rules in the table. No longer.
I have tried all 3 settings of AutoFit on table creation. No dice.
Have also tried, with "fixed column width = Auto" on creation, then
Table Properties, then on the columns tab UN-checking preferred width
checkbox for every column. When I then immediately bring up Table
Props again, Word has helpfully (not) RE-checked the checkboxes. This
is with (from the Table tab of Table props dialog, Options button)
"automatically resize to fit columns" turned OFF.
So I'm at my wit's end and would very much appreciate any advice.
Unfortunately at this time I'm not ready to move to Word 2007.
Thanks,
Fred Ehrhardt
