no maximize

When I maximize Word 2003, it moves down about 1" from
the top of the screen. (the bottom of the app moves off
screen) It can't be moved til restored - I can make it
fill the screen by dragging the borders, but not with the
maximize button. None of the other apps in the suite
have this problem. Anyone have any ideas?

Hi Tom,

First exit Word and restart to see if that rectifies the problem. If
problem still occurs then the problem may be rectified by recreating
the Word\Data key in the Registry.

Exit Word and Outlook if using Word as your email editor and in the
Registry drill down to:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Word\Data

And rename/delete the Data key. Word will create a new one upon
restarting.

As always, prior to making any changes to the Registry you should
review "Backing up the Registry" and "Restoring the Registry" in the
Registry Help.

In this situation you may want to use the Registry/Export Registry
file command, export your selected branch, and delete the key. That
way if you find the change wasn't necessary or incorrect, you can
merge the deleted branch back to the Registry by double-clicking the
resulting file.
