How can I get rid of or change the (error) message for a control on my form
when it is locked and the user clicks in the field and it shows the code at
the bottom of the taskbar. i.e. Field cant be edited, it is bound to ,
etc...

Write your own text in the Control's Status Bar Text property.
It's on the Other tab.
