Although the first hit on google (MS KB article) indicates that adding graphs
is the easiest way to hit the font limit (Microsoft Excel 2000 and later, the
maximum number of fonts is 512), you can hit that limit in multiple ways; you
could add a bunch of graphs, then try to add a few new fonts but are too
close to the limit, or perhaps you are just a crazy font lover, and have used
lots of different fonts in the workbook already.
The suggested solution still applies; turn off autosize on any graphs that
/are/ in your workbook, and reduce the number of fonts you are using outside
of graph as well.
One habit I've been in for several versions as a result of this problem is
that I'll often only create one dynamic graph and link it to a drop-down box
so that the user can select which data they want to see, and the graph
updates. This way I can make graphical data available for hundreds of graphs,
while only consuming the resources of one.
