in the first case disable antivirus email scanning (AVG antivirus, maybe)
I had the same problem and now all work perfectly; unfortunatly the
yet-downloaded messages will never display again.

Firstly thanks for the responce, but i have disabled the anti virus, but it
seems to download them and then i never get to see them, as its a works email
i struggling without it
