No note area in 2004

In the old powerpoint you used to be able to set aside an area to the right
for notes if you print 4 or 6 slides per page.

I can't seem to find this in PPT 2004.

Is there a way to do this?

Thanks,

Tom.

Yes you can. In PPT:2004 just select the menu item View/Normal
Your work area will be divided in 3 panes:
- on the left, you see the presentation in outline mode
- the central area is for your current slide
- under your slide, you have an area to enter notes

In the print dialog box, you should select print what: notes to print them
out

I don't have 2004 so I can't check this out, but if you can't find the
best option for printing notes, you might try going to the File menu and
choosing Send to Word. That might give you different options than
printing handouts directly from PowerPoint.

Not with 4 or 6 slides per page but with three/page, yes.

Choose File, Print
In the list box that (here at least) always defaults to General, choose
Microsoft PowerPoint.
Next to "Print what" choose "Handouts (3 slides per page)"
Set other options to taste
Click Print
Serves three (per page)
With lined spaces for notes.

Steve,
I have notes that show up when I print the notes on a single page,
but following your instructions below, the notes don't show on the
right side when I print 3 slides to a page. I can see the area where
they should show up, but I don't see my notes. Any ideas?

It's an area *for* notes. The notes written in by whoever you give the handouts to,
if they're so moved. ;-)

It doesn't display notes text though. Never has in earlier versions either.

But I'm thinking that if you choose Notes Pages in the Print What area then switch
to the Layout view of the print dialog and choose four up, you're on the way to
bliss?
