no office assistant characters present

Hi, I've just installed and set up Outlook on a new computer. I get an error
message telling me that "no office assistant characters present" and asking
me to pick on in "maintenance mode." I'm new to XP and I have no idea what
that means. I searched the Windows XP help files for "maintenance mode" and,
while there's lots of information about maintenance (too much to digest at
once), there's nothing about "maintenance mode."

What exactly is it asking me to do?

Thanks very much for your help.

Thanks very much. Sounds like I'm supposed to just ignore it.

I appreciate your help! I couldn't find anything on it in the knowledgebase
when I searched.

If the error message only occurs under the circumstances
described in the referenced article, then yes, it's a bug
attributable to installing and using more than one version of
Office on the same computer, and you can just ignore the error
message.

But I haven't installed more than one version of Office on the same computer.
I've installed Office once and then installed a standalone version of
Frontpage, but that's it.
