No office assistants in the gallery??

I have a Windows Vista operating system on my new laptop and when I tried to
choose an alterntive office assistant from the gallery (Word XP) it was empty
and I got an error message stating "not enough memory for this operation".
Its a brand new laptop and I donnt have much running when I tried this. What
does this mean and how can I get access to the Office Assistants?
