No office program will start afer installation

Hoping someone can help me here, I install the enterprise edition of office
2007 fine, and everything goes well. However, when I try to run the program,
nothing happens. Literally nothing, I don't have any previous versions of
office on my computer anymore. My computer has more the adequate system
requirements. I've tried this a plethora of times to no success.

In a random act, I tried the free trial version from MS to see if that would
work. And the same exact thing happens. Installs fine, but then no program
will start. I've tried every program and get nothing. The diagnostic thing
will run however, and it tells me everything is fine. Its starting to get
very frustrating, as I have a number of things that I need to work on in
word, and I can't do anything.

Any amount of help or ideas on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

When I click on any office program in my start menu, I get the hour glass
working symbol for about 2 seconds and then nothing happens. Nothing loads,
I don't get a short little splash screen, I don't get an error message, it
acts I never clicked on anything.

Attempt to start Word, then open Task Manager (Ctrl+Alt+Del) Processes Tab,
click on the header to sort image name, check to see if winword.exe is there
PS What o/s? if Vista perhaps its a permissions issue with your origonal
installation.

I've tried that already, with all the programs. There is no instance of it
running in the task manager. I'm using XP with all current updates. For
reference, I'm the only user of the computer/administrator. I've also tried
starting the programs from their exe files and not just a shortcut. This
does not work either.

And as I said in the first post, this happens even with a trial version.
Which, in my mind, eliminates any validation type issue going on.

Ok, so when I boot into safe and run windows as the administrator I can get
the programs to open. However, even in safe, when I run windows under my
username (which is listed as an administrator) I still get the same problem
of nothing starting up. I'm usually fairly adept at fixing things on my
computer, but I think this might be above my head.

something related to Vista permissions & its related protection, since I
dont use Visa I cannot add anything further, sorry & good luck
