Hi Gordon:
Yeah, you can't "port" Mac Office without doing some preparation, otherwise
you get into a real lockup.
On your Office 2004 CD, there is a "Remove Office" tool. Run that AT LEAT
twice to ensure you remove all the dead bits.
There would have been an uninstalled copy of the Office Test Drive on the
new machine: you need to carefully remove that first, with the Office
Remover Tool, otherwise you won't get the new version to install correctly.
You may have to START at least one of the applications in the Test Drive
installation so that the Remove Office tool can find it to get it out!!
Once you are sure you have no remaining dead bits of Office on the machine,
apply Apple's 10.4.8 update, if you have not already done so.
Then do a drag-and-drop installation of Office 2004. Then apply Microsoft
updates 11.3 and 11.3.4.
It should work then.
Cheers
Have multiple licenses for MS Office 2004.
Ported a copy of MS Office 2004 from old machine to new machine.
Tried to start ported copy but never had chance to name or product ID
and MS Office 2004 is dead in the wateron new machine now.
This is MS Office 2004 Mac.
