The Blue Max
It appears that Outlook 2007 does not have any application help for tabs, tab
settings, or dot leaders. The oversight spawned a lively forum discussion
over help syntax, but, in the end, the problem simply related back to
Microsoft's failure to supply any help on the subject. We base this
assumption on two observations.
FIRST, any search for tab, tabs, tab settings, dot leaders, etcetera, fails
to provide any meaningful help references.
SECOND, accessing the context help icon "?" from the TABS dialog title bar,
does not provide any context sensitive help, only a generic help screen.
Obviously, it reflects very poorly on Microosoft when there is no help on
such a basic, long-standing feature! With the new interface, many users
require help to even find the feature, especially as an obscure button that
somewhat hides itself amidst the DEFAULT, OKAY, and CANCEL buttons at the
bottom of a dialog. Though we obviously finally found the feature, it was
not until after many frustrating hours trying to get help both from the
application and from online discussion groups.
