I have made a web page using FP 2000 and when I try to upload it to my isp
web space thats allocated to me none of the pics appear. only the writing. I
have put them in as jpegs and the box where they should be is there with a
red X in the top left corner. The background doesnt appear either. Any ideas?

Make sure your images are in a folder "inside" your web.
Then insert them in your pages.

If they are outside of your web, in another location on your computer, they don't get published.

Make an 'images' folder within your site and IMPORT the photos into that
folder. (Use HELP for that.) Then use them on your pages.

-folderpic:///D:/My Documents/My Webs/country
+folderpic:///D:/My Documents/My Webs/country/_private
+folderpic:///D:/My Documents/My Webs/country/images
there is nothing in the two folders under the main web
the directly under private and images are the other files e.g.
index.html
family_pictures.htm

etc

1. Make sure that you are opening the web / site in FP via File Menu | Open Web / Site.
2. Then you are creating your pages in this open web / site
3. You are import the images to be used into the site before inserting them on your pages.
4. That you are using File Menu | Publish Web / Site to the remote server.

also you're on a linux server so remove spaces (%20) from file names.
i suspect, as well, that your web does not have FP extensions installed.

T

Thomas A. Rowe

Spaces should be removed no matter what server the site is hosted on. However under Unix/Linux the
case of file and folder name is very important, should be all lowercase.

yah i know.

hey, how can you tell if a ~webxxx under a linux box has fp extensions for sure or not...is it the same test as webroot test?..or do you test ~webxxx/_vti_inf.html ?

sorry if not clear it's really freekin hot out here today.

T

Thomas A. Rowe

In most installs, it would have to be on the root, but some host actually do install them for
individual sites, at least back with the FP98 extensions.

Thankyou for all the advice.
Webs are being opened correctly, all images are stored inthe images folder,
when i go to publish it it does give me an error msg to the extent that my
isp doesnt have FP extensions installed but when i ignore this msg and
republish it goes through and only publishes the print not the
graphics/pics/colors. I thought i would be smart and upload it to
geocities/yahoo and it does the same thing. Is it something basic that I am
doing wrong? It all looks perfectly normal on my computer screen.
Also seeing as how my isp doesnt have fp extensions installed should i be
using another programme to upload?
