Hi,
I can see you've had a trhead earlier which desribes the problem and
part of the solution. The main mails in the thread are:

The rest of the Office 2003 suite does prompt to save a new or changed
file,
but Excel does not. This has cost me lots of re-work when I get in a
hurry or
have multiple windows open and inadvertently click to close the wrong
window
or app.
It happens 100% of the time, for a new file or a modified file.

I wonder if code has switched alerts off
Press Alt+F11 in Excel and the VBE should launch. Hopefully a window
here is
called 'immediate window'. If not go to the view menu and activate. In
here
type
Application.DisplayAlerts = True
and press enter. Now close the VBE and Excel. Does that fix it?

I tried this on my machine, and for this particular excelfile, it
started prompting for save when the file was changed, but not for
others. How do I make this general ?
