No records when access query contains Like

Robert

Is it just me or... when I mail merge to an access query
with a criteria containing Like and a "*" [eg
Like "member*"], no records are returned.

In ccess the query returns data, but in word 2002, no
records are returned for the same query.

HELP!!

Hi Robert,
Is it just me or... when I mail merge to an access query
with a criteria containing Like and a "*" [eg
Like "member*"], no records are returned.

In ccess the query returns data, but in word 2002, no
records are returned for the same query.
This is a consequence of the new, default connection method
Word 2002 mail merge uses instead of the old DDE. OLE DB is
ANSI-92 instead of ANSI-89. For details of what this means
in relation to Access, look up ANSI-92 in the Access Help
files.

What it means for mail merge is that you'll need to use one
of the older technologies to connect to these queries.
You'll find more details about this in the Word 2002
section of my website's mail merge FAQ.
