No "save as" under file menu?

A manager here was emailed an mpp file by one of his employees. He
opened the file, made a few changes and then did a "save", not know
exactly where the file was being written. Then attempted a "save as" ,
but no "save as" option was showing up under the file menu (yes, he
checked the 'arrow' that expands the pull-down menu).

Any ideas?

This is very granular, but I thought my best bet was to query the
community in came someone else is familiar with this strange behavior.

Andy:

If he opened it from email, then the save went to the temporary email store.
Have him open the email message and the attached plan and see if the changes
are there. If his copy of Project is set to automatically connect to Project
Server, and he doesn't have "Save new Plan" permission, it might explain the
missing Save As.
