No Save prompt when closing a notebook?

I spent a couple hours working on a notebook, then closed it expecting to get
a pop-up dialog box asking me to save, like every other program does, but
didn't get it. Does OneNote not prompt to save a notebook? Or is my work
still here somewhere?

New to this but see pg1 of the guide workbook , hopefully it's all there
somewhere.

OneNote continuously saves your data as you work. You don't need to
explicitly save. That is a difference from how other Office applications
work, but OneNote is based on a paper metaphor. You don't have to
explicitly save if you're writing or typing on a piece of paper, right?

You should also not need to Open and Close notebooks. OneNote can handle
having many different Notebooks open at the same time.

To get your data back, navigate in Windows Explorer to the location where
the closed Notebook folder was (typically a subdirectory of "My
Documents\OneNote Notebooks". RIght-click on the folder whose name matches
the Notebook name, and select "Open as Notebook in OneNote". This will
reopen the Notebook in OneNote, and you should see that all of your data is
there.

Thanks guys. I did read the guide workbook, just forgot that it doesn't
prompt for a save. I found my notebook - it turns out that when I started it
I had the OneNote 2007 Guide open and my new notebook was inside that
notebook. So I thought maybe I can move it out of that notebook by making a
new section. Nope, still in that notebook. I found that I can copy/paste the
file from within Explorer and put my notebook in the Personal Notebook
folder. That is better.
