no sheet tab in Excel

This is an odd one I have a pre-existing excel 2003 document but the
bottom bar that contains the sheet tabs and the horizontal scroll are
missing.

Other folks can open this document fine on other machines and I can
create new documents with the bar there. I verified that sheet tabs
and horizontal scroll bar are checked unter Tools - Options - View -
Windows options.

I'm assuming I fat-fingered in a keystroke I didn't want. Is there any
other place within this doc that would control this setting?
