No sound on copied file to laptop, but files are there

I produced PP presentation on desktop, copied to laptop both via DVD &
personal media drive. File show sound files there, but no won't play sound
files when file is opened. Checked muting on control panel, nothing is muted.
Why can't I hear the sounds during the presentation? The custom animation
screen shows sound files attached to slides.
