no sound

I just had to reinstall XP on my computer after it crashed. everything went
smoothly except that now I have no audio on my computer. Under Sounds and
Audio Devices it says I have "No Audio Device". I've checked my speaker
connections, and have changed my sound scheme from "No Scheme" to "Windows
Default", but nothing I know how to do is working. I did just do the service
pak 2 update if that means anything.
anyone know how to help me fix this.

Thanks

Did you reinstall the motherboard/sound card drivers for your machine? What
does Device manager show regarding the audio card?

This doesn't have anything to do with Microsoft Office, which is what
this group is for. If you want assistance with your operating system you
should ask in the group for Windows XP. As to your issue, it sounds like
you didn't install the drivers for your sound card. Find the CD with the
drivers on it and install them.

You post to a relevent group, which this isnt, ie windowsxp

However the problem is that you failed to install chipset & other hardware
drivers for your PC/Laptop
