no spell check available

I just got a laptop with WinXP.. My Outlook Express
doesn't allow me to use the spell check - the icon is
greyed-out.
Any suggestions..?

It is because you don't have Word (or some other Office product with
spellcheck) installed. Works suite (with Word) will work if you install
Word.
