No Spell Check

L

Luca

Hello,

I have a problem with the spellchecker on Word/Office vX which I have
not been able to solve, despite having reinstalled the whole package a
couple of time (including all possible dictionaries and proofing tools).

Briefly, there are no problems in the preference panel: I can switch the
checker on BUT the check is not actually working; typos are not
underlined in red. The same happens regardless of the language I
choose. I have tried to select all the text and then set the language
through the tools-language option, but still it's not working.

While the spellchecker is not working at all, the grammar check (which
is in my view useless...) works fine (mistakes underlined in green).

Thanks a lot for your help,
Luca

There is one more thing you should check. Select text that is not spell
checking and go to format-> style. Does the paragraph's language match
the language you selected in Tools->Language...
If there is no mention of language, you may have to go back up the
'based-on' tree of styles till you find one.

What happens when you ask for a spell check with cmd-opt-L?

If in Office X, are you completely updated?

(hit refresh a few times in Safari, or use a different browser)

And for the original poster, reinstalling is unlikely to help unless you
un-installed first.

And if those don't help, work through the general troubleshooting
