No such news group - error 130

Ed Kimball

I am faculty at University of Phoenix Online and I have recently started
receiving the following error message whenever Entourage 2004 (11.3.6) runs
the schedule to check my standard newsgroups.
Error
no such news group

Explanation
Could not retrieve mail.
Account name: "UoPhx Online"

Error: 130

There are four such newsgroups that are in my schedule, and if I change the
schedule to run them one at a time, I get that message for each one.

BUT, if I select any of the four newsgroups in the folders list pane, I can
read them just fine. What might be causing the scheduled read to fail when
reading directly succeeds?

I tried running tcpflow, but it didn't report any traffic to or from the
server (candidate.phoenix.edu).

Thanks,

Diane,

Thanks. I was afraid that was the answer. I tried verifying and compacting
before posting the question, but that didn't help.

Rebuilding did work -- I was just hoping to avoid having to reset all my
newsgroups. I was pleased, however, to see that my IMAP accounts stayed as I
left them. That's an improvement over previous rebuilds! :)

Thanks again for your help. I have bookmarked the mvps page for future
reference.

Thanks for the feedback. Nice to know the suggested solution on the error
page worked. Most errors and solutions come from users so we try to keep
them updated as best we can.

It's too bad that Microsoft doesn't provide a list of errors and solutions.
