no text appears when I type in OneNote

I have just downloaded the OneNote trial and when I try to enter any text or
paste a picture - nothing happens. I can enter text into the Help text field,
but I can't delete it. When I type text in Word and copy it, I cannot paste
it into OneNote, neither can I copy a picture and paste that. I have
downloaded and installed all the patches off the Microsoft Office Update site
too - still no joy. Can anyone please help?
