No User Templates Folder

Operating System: Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger)
Processor: Intel

I do not have a User Template file here:

/Users/ ~ /Library/Application Support/Microsoft/Office/User Templates/

or anywhere else on my computer. I am trying to modify the "normal" template.

Any suggestions?

Dear [whoever],

The simplest way is to get Spotlight to search for "Normal" (note: it
doesn't have ".dot" at the end).

If you feel like it, take a look at pages 54-56 (especially 'Word 2004
settings files -- after moving key files to a safer location') of some notes
on the way I use Word for the Mac, titled "Bend Word to Your Will", which
are available as a free download from the Word MVPs' website
(http://word.mvps.org/Mac/Bend/BendWordToYourWill.html).

[Note: "Bend Word to your will" is designed to be used electronically and
most subjects are self-contained dictionary-style entries. If you decide to
read more widely than the item I've referred to, it's important to read the
front end of the document -- especially pages 3 and 5 -- so you can select
some Word settings that will allow you to use the document effectively.]

If you're using Office 2004 you're looking in the wrong place the
location of Normal should be:

~/Documents/Microsoft User Data/Normal
