Well, fifteen minutes ago I was going to ask how to repair my
installation of Office 2004. Neither Word nor Excel would allow me to
open the VBA editor - I got errors stating either that "macro storage
could not be opened" or something to the effect that VBA was not
installed.
But I searched the group first, and found a post from about a year ago
that pointed to this document:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;272347
Now, you can't exactly follow the steps in that document since it was
written for Office 98. In fact, of the six files that its Method 1
suggest deleting, I could only find two in Office 2004 ("Microsoft OLE
Automation", and "Microsoft OLE Library" - actually, I found just
"Microsoft OLE" instead of the latter). But I moved them to a new
folder, and archived the folder anyway, to see if it would help.
Word crashed immediately upon launch.
Then I unarchived the originals and put them back from whence they
came.
Word and Excel both gladly offer up the VBA IDE now.
Weird? Yes. Maybe it'll help someone else though.
