Non-breaking space

How do I place a non-breaking space between words? That is, a space that
won't separate across lines. If one word wraps to the next line, both do. In
WordPerfect, this is just ctrl-space. How do I do this in Word?

than "non-breaking space?" I couldn't find this anywhere in the help system.

Is this Word 2003? The help system sucks, unfortunately.

Typography never has been Word's strong suit & Help on the subject reflects
that Have a look in Insert> Symbol> Special Characters in versions prior
to 2007. If using 2007 you'll find them on the Insert Tab of the Ribbon,
right end. Click Symbol then select "More Symbols...".
