Non "fee required" assistance / Customer Support

Is there anyway to get some assistance on an application
problem with a Microsoft product (Word 97 or any other for
that matter) without having to pay a fee to those
Pirates? The problem I have is that when I select the
bold button it not only sets it to bold but also sets it
to italic. This started about 2 weeks ago and no manuals
or help pages appear to have a solution. Has anyone seen
this before? Has a virus gotten through my firewall and
scanners? Contact Ward Hammond at (e-mail address removed). This
product assistance black-mail puts microsoft real close on
the list with terrorist sympathizers.

Is it possible that the Bold variant of your font is damaged so that Word is
using the Bold Italic one instead? Have you checked Tools | Macro | Macros
to see if there is a Bold macro that might be hijacking the Bold command?
