Non-Mail Merge Doc begins warning "Opening this will run SQL comma

Hello, I am using XP Pro 2002 SP2. I have a Word document that I use daily.
It is not, and has never been, linked to a data source. However, last
Friday, I started receiving the message,

"Opening this will run the following SQL command"

"Data from your database will be placed in the document"

"Do you want to continue?"

Does anyone know why this SQL command suddenly attached itself to my
document, and/or how do I correct this issue? I hear this came from a bad MS
update, is that the case? Thanks for your help.

Are you starting Word by opening this document? Do other documents open
normally? Do you get this message when you start Word with a blank document?
The reason I ask is that I started getting this message on starting Word
(with a blank document) after the last round of updates, and the cause
turned out to be the TaskPaneController add-in. The message came only on
starting Word (not on opening any documents), and the problem was solved by
removing the add-in.

I'm opening Word from the application shortcut icon on my desktop. Then,
once Word loads, I open the document that I work in every day. I tested a
few random documents, that I created recently, and they opened as normal;
again, these were opened after I launched Word from the application desktop
shortcut. I do have another document that is suddenly warning me about the
SQL command, but at least that doc IS mail merge related...not that I want
that doc to run a SQL command either. It's all very frustrating. I don't
know if our experiences are related, but no, it doesn't happen upon launching
Word, or a blank (or new) document. I welcome any further advice. Thanks
for your help.

I suspect it may still be caused by some sort of add-in, but if you don't
mind editing the Registry, you can disable the warning for *all* documents
(including mail merge main documents); see "Opening This Will Run the
Following SQL Command" Message When You Open a Word Document at
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=825765

I'd really rather figure out what is causing the message, but sometimes you
just have to do what's expedient.

Suzanne, Thanks for your time. I don't want to be a pest, but I have a few
questions. What is an add-in? Would this come from a MS update? If so, why
would it attach itself to inappropriate documents, such as, your blank docs,
and my doc that I've been referring to? Also, if this is the case, wouldn't
MS correct this problem? Obviously, this area is not my expertise.

I'm more concerned about the "well being" of my work document, than I am
about expediency. I email this doc to my company periodically, and I don't
want their servers to deem it corrupted. Right now, I am afraid to add
further info to the doc, just in case it is, or can be taken as, corrupted.

Lastly, I've already been to the link you sent me, before I came here for
help. These were my concerns:

1. My doc is not a mail merge document, which tells me that something is wrong
2. The "workaround" provided by MS, is not recommend by MS
3. The "workaround" lists Word 2002 SP3, & I am running Word 2002 SP2

I don't know that there are any other suggestions to be offered, but I do
want to thank you for your assistance. You have been helpful.
