non OEM Office 97 full to Office 2000 Upgrade to Office 2007 Upgra

My old pc died. I'd like to save $ and use my past Office products to
reach/install Office 2007 upgrade on my new laptop.
I realize from other posts that Office 2007 will not recognize Office 97 full.
Will Office 2007 upgrade recognize Office 2000 upgrade to carry out the
installation?
Or will I need to install Office 97, then upgrade to Office 2000, then
upgrade to Office 2007? (this would take quite a while).

'07 upgrade should read the '00 upgrade disk as a qualifier. As in all
things Microsoft, should is a pretty big word.
