Non-printing text

Is there any way (Word 2000) to put non-printing but viewable text in a
document (not as a comment). Thanks.

Hi DR

Sure, the normal method is to create a paragraph style called something like "Hidden".
You set its font property to "Hidden". You then apply this style to the text you don't
want printed. If you want to see the text in the document you can either click on the
Show/Hide toolbar icon "¶" or from the menu Tools>Options>View>Formatting marks>Hidden.

To ensure the hidden text is not printed make sure the following checkbox is unchecked:
Tools>Options>Print>Include with document>Hidden text.

Thanks, but this doesn't do the trick. Among other problems, it assumes the
user knows there is something hidden that he needs to see.

Hi DR

Not if you use an AutoNew and/or AutoOpen macro in your template to setup the relevant
setting.
