Non recognition of =Date() and =Format() commands

I have an application which has (1) a query which uses the
=Format() command, and (2) a table which uses the =Date()
command. On some machines, these commands are not
recognised and cause error messages when the query or form
generated from the table are opened.

I cannot see what the differences are between the machines
that work and the machines that generate the error, but
perhaps there is a library that is not loaded on these
machines? Or another place to look?
