non-recurring events auto-delete despite prefs

Entourage 2004 for Mac. v. 11.3.3
Mac OS X v. 10.4.10 on iMac (intel core duo)
Problem: non-recurring events disappear after about three weeks even
though the preference check box is not checked. Anyone have the same
problem? or possible solutions on how to turn off that preference?

I sync my desktop Mac with my ATT/Cingular Blackjack smartphone
(Windows Mobile) using "Missing Sync for Windows Mobile." Could the
Blackjack be the problem? although there is no preference setting
regarding deleting past events.

Has your exchange admin set up a auto-delete for events older than this?
