Non Standard File Extension In Access 2007

Gary

I used Non Standard File Extension and in Access 2000 to 2003, I had to
change the registry setting to allow Access to important such files. Without
the registry change, it will only allow standard extension such as .txt, etc.

What do I do for Access 2007 ???? (if anything??).

Thank You,

Gary

If you register an extension (such as .prn) with Windows as a text file, you
should be able to export/import that type in any version of Access. it's the
unregistered file types it barfs over.

Another possibility is to export the file as a registered type (such as txt
or csv), and then Name the file to something else afterwards.

I am using unregistered file types. In Access 2000 to 2003, I can make
Access accept this by changing the registry seting per MS KB Article #Q245407

Will this work for Access 2007 or what do I need to do.

Thank You!!!

Gary

P.S. My users do not use to change the extension because we use it to
indicate the year the data was collected from.

A2007 should work the same as previous versions if you register the file
type.
