Nonstop cursor drag

I was working in an excell worksheet. No matter where I
move the mouse, the cursor drags & highlghts every cell.
Pushing any keys, clicking the mouse etc. does nothing.
How do I turn off whatever's on???

Goto Start Menu/Control Panel/Mouse/Pointer Options and uncheck "Display
pointer trials".

in the bottom right corner of the window, is EXT showing? If so, hit F8 to
turn it off.

If that isn't the case, try closing Excel, clean out the temp directory and
reboot.
