Version: 2004 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) Processor: Intel I tried to change normal to view at 125% as well as stay in middle of screen. Neither stuck. Am I out of luck? thanks.

John,
That macro almost sent me to the hospital, just kidding.
So to confirm, without a macro, you cannot change normal to 125% or center. Why not? you can change to many other things to normal. odd no?

This was covered in the same conversation, IIRC.

You can change the zoom in Normal, itself, but *any* changes to Normal
affect only NEW documents generated from that point on. Those changes have
no influence on pre-existing documents.

Although Zoom is initially based on what Normal has been set for it is a
property of the document file from that point on, so if the document is
later saved at a different Zoom percentage that's what it will open at the
next time the file is opened.

Window positioning is determined by the operating system.

Neither Zoom nor position can be changed until the document is opened, so if
you don't want to change it manually you need an automated process -- either
a macro or Apple Script.

thanks Bob!
I went to normal, changed that to 125%, but new docs in word open still open at 100%.
When I'm in normal I dont see way to save it after I make changes. the need to save dot in red does not appear. I just quit out. is that the issue?

Once you've opened Normal & changed the Zoom to 125% you then need to type
at least one character, backspace to remove it (don't use Undo), then click
the Save button & close the template.
