Normal.dot after update

I used the office update tool and after installing the updates now have to deal with it saying
that normal.doc already exists and asks Do you wish to
replace the existing file. I always say yes but it does it
every time I exit Word.

I am getting the same error. I even completly
uninstalled Office XP, renamed the old Microsoft folder
under Documents and settings. Reinstalled and I get the
same error.

Hi John,

Without knowing the version of Word you are using and which update you
recently installed I can only make a wild guess here.

If you also use Norton AV then go to Norton Options, in the
Miscellaneous section disable the "Office Plug-in" option and see if
that resolves it.
