normal .dot at Office 2003 close

Since just after I upgraded to Office Professional
Edition 2003, each time I close any of the Office
applications I get a message that noraml.dot is being
saved but a copy already exists do I want to replace it.
I also get a message saying that changes have been made
to the Global template and do I want to save these
changes.
After searching the news groups, I have gone into task
manager and closed all instances of office, renamed the
normal.dot to normal.old and let it recreate itself,
scanned the system with Norton AV numerous times and
still this behaviour continues.
Does anyone have a solution or is this a bug in the
program?

Hi Dennis,

More than likely you've encountered an ever-growing problem with
Norton AV. It has an option called "Enable Office Plug-in" which is a
little too aggressive. Try going to Norton Options, in the
Miscellaneous section turn off the Office Plug-in option and see if
the problem is rectified.
