Normal.dot being saved with current document

I have a client with Word 97 and whenever he exits word or saves an existing
document (as a document type, .doc) his normal.dot is amended with the data
in the document. He has to delete the normal.dot file every few days or so
as it grows in size and eventually word doesn't open.

Any ideas? He check the format/styles menu and the save to the template
boxes are not checked.

Have him see the last paragraph of
http://www.mvps.org/word/FAQs/AppErrors/BlankDocNotBlank.htm. We would
really like more information on the possible causes of this problem, which
seems to be increasingly prevalent. One of the leading suspects is the
Microsoft Works Suite Add-in for Word; does he have Word as part of Works
Suite? Any other add-ins?
