Normal.dot error occuring every time

Within the past few weeks, we have noticed a lot of clients complaining
about the "normal.dot error". Basically, every time someone opens Word
or Outlook, and then closes it, it tells them that "The file is in use
by another application or user. (I:\Template\Normal.dot)" When they
click okay, it pulls up a Save As window for Normal.dot. When they hit
cancel, it comes back with "Changes have been made that affect the
global template, Normal.dot. Do you want to save those changes?" It is
the fact that it's pulling normal.dot from a network drive, make a
difference? If so, is there a way to change that? Any help would be
greatly appreciated.

Tanya,
what you can try is to delete the Normal.dot from the computer. Please note
that you have to reinitialize the settings in word afterwards.

Word's normal.dot global template is not meant to be shared among
multiple users. Each user should have his/her own normal.dot on
his/her own hard drive. See
