I have office 2000 on an XP Pro system. I connot get
office to work. I have tried reinstalling service packs
and it does not work.
When i go to open a document in word or excel I get a the
name of the doc is not available. Then when I try to
close it out I get a message asking me to rename
normal.dot.
I have tried renameing it and not renameing it and still
the same porblem. Office will not work.
Has anyone come across this problem.
I also should mention that this system is on a network
running SBS 2003 on the server. Everyone's office works
and can open doc.
Any help.

If an older version of Symantec/Norton Antivirus was installed on your
computer before you got Norton Corporate Edition, then it's possible
that the Norton Office Plugin is still registered in Windows even if you
uninstalled the older version of Norton Antivirus. Search for the
OFFICEAV.DLL file on your system (include hidden and system
files/folders) and note the directory path where it is located. Close
all open applications. From Windows, click on Start | Run. In the Open
dialog box, type the command (including quotes):

Regsvr32 -U "C:\<path>\OfficeAV.dll"

Replace <path> with the directory path for your OfficeAV.dll file. Click
on OK. You only have to run this command once (not every time you
restart your computer). You should get the message:
"DllUnregisterServer in C:\<path>\OfficeAV.dll succeeded."

Are both the path statments in the command to point to
the same place?

I don't know what you mean by "both the path statements in the command".
I only see one path statement in the command: Regsvr32 -U
"C:\<path>\OfficeAV.dll". What folder is your OFFICEAV.DLL file located
in?
