normal.dot increases in file size

Hi. It's not me that has this problem but the friend. We possibly think
that it is a virus but norton nor avg can detect it.

Simply when word is exited normal.dot increases in file size in exact
increments of it's current basic size (I think).

if it's 26 it goes up to 52 then it goes to 78 I think.

What could be wrong?

I tried so many searches out there but nothing helps.

I'd suspect a third party add-in is modifying Normal.dot each time
Word starts. Go to Tools/Options/Save and turn on "Prompt to save
Normal template".

Then upon exiting Word if you are prompted to save changes to
Normal.dot I would then investigate your add-ins.

Go to Tools/Templates and Add-Ins and see if there are any global
templates or add-ins listed. If you find any then chances are they are
located in your Office\Startup folder or Word\Startup folder.

The location of the Word\Startup folder can be found under
Tools/Options/File Locations and the Office\Startup folder will be
located in the installation path for Office.

If you find more than one add-in move them one at a time until you
determine which one is causing the problem.

Another common add-in, the "Microsoft Works Suite Add-in for Word" can
only be found in your Add/Remove programs list. If Word came installed
as part of Works Suite then you should uninstall the add-in as it is
known to cause problems.
