Normal.Dot Problem

P

Poz

I use Word for Windows XP and have used it and its predecessors for
many years.

During the past week or so, the program has been behaving in a manner
I never before have experienced. When I exit the program, the current
file closes and I briefly see a blank file named "normal.dot". When I
start the program again and click on the file menu, normal.dot appears
as the most recently used file.

I know what the file normal.dot is. I don't know why the program is
behaving in this manner nor how to cause it to stop from doing so.
Any advice would be appreciated.

I too am using Windows XP with Office 2000, and my copy of Word has just
started doing the same thing. I have posted the problem in the
docmanagement newsgroup, but I did not get any helpful replies. I will be
anxious to see if anyone here can help.
